Children were born and all were raised in a collective, where the adult handlers identified the personalities and the proper specialization of each child. Those with the most golden souls were the leaders, and this ruling caste did not marry. Instead, they got together for a mass orgy once a year. The relationship between these "gold" parents was not based on affection, but on logic it was said to be "Platonic".
This was called The Myth of the Metals by Plato.
Plato wanted this Ideal society to be established on some remote island, inaccessible to the rest of humanity, so as not to suffer from corruption due to those who did not believe in the religion Plato taught, which he created to keep everything unchanging and unchangeable.
Plato felt that the most likely natural leaders would be the offspring of "gold" parents. They were not corruptible by their emotions and intrapersonal relationships. Occasionally, some child of non-"gold" parents would be born who was obviously destined to rule, and he would be identified by the child handlers at an early age.
Nuckin' Futz is basically the Official Court Jester and Harlequin of this forum. He is nothing at all like Plato, personally.
Plato wanted to deceive people to fool them into being logical and decent folk in a perfect society. Nuckin' Futz is not a believer in perfect society.
What do Nuckin'Futz and Plato have in common? Neither believes in the various myths that humans have created.
