Eliminating the family WAS part of what Marx and Engels believed. The left never held tolerance as a part of its ideology. The left today uses "tolerance" as a cudgel to hit over the head those who oppose their desire to introduce taboo lifestyles into society. Destroying families is not part of Marxism, and no one is trying to destroy families.
What the left wants to do is create tolerance for all types of citizens.
