Monkeypox (mpox) can spread through contact with infected animals, people, or contaminated materials:

Animals:
You can get mpox from scratches or bites from infected animals, or by preparing or eating meat or other products from an infected animal. You can also get it from direct contact with an infected animal's blood, bodily fluids, or sores. < @murdock

People:
You can get mpox from close contact with an infected person, including intimate or sexual contact. This can include direct contact with an infected person's bodily fluids, sores, scabs, or respiratory droplets. You can also get it from contact with lesions or scabs on a person's skin or mucosal surfaces, such as the genitals, anus, rectum, mouth, throat, or eyes.

^^nope, I am not a candidate
