No, the concept of 'FAKE NEWS' was originally traced back to certain FB spammers who were making up news stories, and with a graphics editor, making them look like real websites and posting them to Face Book given gullible right wingers click bait, the spammers didn't care which side of the political spectrum the fake news stories they posted were, but they were interviewed and the told us that they made more money on clicks from the right than they ever did for the left, which, to me, proves that many on the right are far more gullible than the left, and this became noticed by the media.
What Trump did was hijack the term and attribute it to any news source he didn't like.
