Either, the value of your home has skyrocketed (it likely has, although you don’t want to sell it, just live there)
Or your state has thrown more tax burden on your county, cutting taxes someplace else.
Everybody likes good roads, bridges, and good fire and police service, and a nice school for the kiddies.
They prefer somebody else pay the cost.
