We have central air, but our bedroom is in the top of a century old house, and last year the extra window unit air conditioner went out.
The old one cost, I forget, six hundred some dollars and was 12,000 btu, and it lasted 15 years. I wanted to fix it, and she said you’ll get a new one.
Geezus, have they improved window until air conditioners. A new one was $400 and 8,000 BTU (same size slot) and twice as cold, and quiet as a ghost.
Last night it made an occasional popping noise and it’s not as cold as it was, but isn’t blowing hot air, just not ice cold air.
I figured it needs the coils cleaned. She disagreed.
I have a new one instead in the back of our Suburban, this one 8100 BTU and $369.
