Brand loyalty must account for why anybody remains a Republican today, that’s not an old, white, evangelical Christian man.
But another way to look at it, is the GOP is playing the only hand it really can play.
If you look at demographics, the nation is getting browner by the year, more educated, more urban, wealthier, and less Christian. Of those trends continue the GOP will eventually be a local party in the poorer states, and then in time it will just sort of fade away.
But today, the GOP is like a cavalry troop in the movies surrounded by hordes of Indians. They’ve not won the popular vote at all since a close race in 2004, and not carried a national race by large margins since Ronald Reagan in 1984. They are the minority.
So they circle wagons and yell the Trannies are coming, the wokesters are on us, they’ll take away our pronouns, boys!
And what few there are rally.
But in the real world, there won’t be a relief column come riding over the hill, at the last minute.
