I agree with your AR-15 findings.
But, as much as they aren't as accurate, I'd rather keep my Ruger Mini-14 than the AR-15 for reliability when cleaning it isn't an option.
Millions of M1 Carbines were sold as surplus, when I was a kid,
Iver Johnson even made scads of reproductions.
Where, did they all go?
They were never much of a deer rifle, but there have to be millions out there somewhere.
