It’s been 21 years now since I called my mother and told her I was a Democrat and not a Republican and thanked her for all her good raising that made it impossible for me to read the Bible, recite a poem, read a newspaper, or sing a song without feeling dirty I was a Republican.
The standards Christ set for us are impossible to meet.
But taking in the stranger, in a strange land
Reserving prisons for the most dangerous
Healing the sick at the border
And not throwing stones at LGBT persons
Are all so easy, you know?
