A question.
Millions of very young school children are being exposed by state actors to age inappropriarte sexual materials. Millions of women are being deprived of their sex-segragated spaces and the safety, privacy and dignity those spaces afforded them.
Why are you obsessing about perfectly legal guns, when that kind of **** is going on in your country, because of your party?
Okay - run.
But those issues are diversions.
In the sixties and seventies, a surplus M-1 carbine was cheaper than a brand new Winchester 94 or Marlin 336.
A school shooter, could have used an M1 Carbine to kill a lot of little kids, or shoot up a mall or church. A lever action thirty thirty, would have worked almost as well.
But it didn’t happen, not even approaching the scale of today’s headlines.
I have some theories why
The primary reason for a firearms purchase then, was not self defense, but because guns are clean, wholesome fun, toys for adults.
Glock type pistols and AK and Armalite rifles simply were not commonly available
Good guys don’t abuse the right to be armed.
A kid who is a loner, a misfit, and who can’t get laid (there have always been those kids) does not believe in heaven for the righteous and hell for the wicked.
He sees on television how, to have his fifteen minutes of fame
He buys a gun that didn’t exist when I was a kid, and he commits suicide (or dies in prison) taking out lots of others, with him.
To limit this, and you’ll never eliminate it,
You can see to it every kid grows up, loved and wanted, with a good set of parents in a good Christian home.
That is utterly impossible.
Or reserve military weapons for the military and police pistols for the police.
That is possible.
I grew up a gun nut, under such conditions.
