The old Baptist women used to circle the date on a calendar when a young couple got married, to see if a child would bless that union within nine months.
I watched my mother one time respond to some old Baptist busybody she knew had taken her daughter to a Kansas Planned Parenthood clinic when she declared in a local cafe

Mama was touching up her lipstick and snapped her little mirror shut, and replied

When a beautiful little girl gets knocked up I’m for her mother dragging her over to Kansas and fixing it, and then coming back with her and telling a righteous lie she was regulating her periods.
The woman paid her check and left, and the entire cafe cheered my Mama.
And we all in there were, conservative Republicans.
Over the last twenty five years the Republican Party has steadily pissed all over every good thing the Republican Party once stood for.
We weren’t for all that much good, but we were not evil.
