—-Police release trooper's taped murder statement
Police have released a taped statement by a state trooper accused of strangling a woman after a traffic stop, and prosecutors say they will seek the death penalty in the case. Florida Highway Patrol Trooper Timothy Harris, 32, stopped Lorraine Hendricks of Jacksonville on an isolated section of Interstate 95 on March 4. Police say he killed her after the two had sex in a wooded median strip.
In a tape made the night of his arrest in April and released Thursday, Harris told investigators Ms. Hendricks consented to sexual intercourse but became frightened when he started calling her Sandy, the name of his estranged wife.
