Black people being murdered by cops or white people was not the bread maker for the major news networks just yet. They may have ran the story but it wasn't a constant news cycle. If a racially motivated murdered occurred it was and made the headlines it was definitely a racially motivated murdered.

My grandmother died kind of suddenly, in 1980. She was sick but expected to recover and Uncle Ben couldn’t wake her up, in the hospital. Her last Ma and Pa weekly installment in The Index was the week before,
Her age was always a matter of some speculation, as was her marriage date, but her death certificate my cousin Pamela provided the information for no doubt covered her as best Pammy could, under the circumstances .
Me and Pammy beat the entire family to her apartment and Pammy has it all, her galley proofs for her book, the $400 receipt from the Beverly Hillbillies, abd we smoked all the Winstons.
The most valuable thing are the original Nanny Jenkins illustration plates. Those plates were only used on genuine, original, printed by The Index Ma Bruce books.
The “book” is actually a 32 page double sided stapled pamphlet, that cost almost nothing to print in 1963 and today can be, and is, counterfeited on any copier.
But they don’t have Nanny’s plates.
Good Lord, she was a genius,
Pammy and I were both five years old, in 1963.
Nanny Jenkins was the most famous illustrator in the Ozarks, and the first woman Superintendent of Schools in the county, and Pammy still has that $20 receipt signed by Nanny where Ma owned all the illustration plates.

I talked with Pammy this afternoon and Pammy said wouldn’t Grandma have instantly known that bastard out in Ohio that murdered that poor girl in a parking lot was a psychopath?
I said it took me twelve hours to figure it out.
Pammy said that’s just because you are a damned old man, and have always thought like one.
I said well, at first I thought he might have been afraid, and then Pammy started laughing at me.
