I am often asked "Can I own an AR-15 in Massachusetts?" The answer is YES. You can own any rifle or shotgun, if it was manufactured before September 12, 1994. Any semi-automatic rifle that is not specifically named in the Assault Weapons Ban is legal. However, it may not have any more then two "evil features", such as a pistol grip, collapsible stock, removable magazine, flash hider, or bayonet mount. All rifles are subject to the Massachusetts 10-round limit, unless the magazines are pre-ban. All rifles must have a barrel longer then 16 inches, to avoid additional federal tax requirements as short-barreled rifles.

They operate EXACTLY the same. They just have some exterior features removed that have nothing to do with how the rifles works
And now with this ruling they can ban them.
