Milley talked to the Chinese military leaders in the wake of J6 when Trump was a lame duck with only two weeks left in office. If he had attempted to take any preemptive military action against China in those last two weeks, it would have been taken by someone who was clearly a domestic enemy of the Constitution, and THAT is the first and foremost loyalty that any officer in the military has... not to the president. As a matter of fact, the oath of office for commissioned officers does not even MENTION the president... only the Constitution.
When I raised my right hand and took the oath of the Air National Guard for my state, I took an oath to the US constitution and the constitution of my state.
NOT the president or the governor of my state.
