That does nothing to refute that mandating these things has saved millions of children from being orphaned, fruitcake. In the matter of highway safety, the government has done excellent work under the aegis of the commerce clause - and in every case, democrats have been the primary movers, while repukes have drug their heels.
But then, conservatives are SUPPOSED to slow the government's roll, and liberals are SUPPOSED to try to move things forard, make things better.
Now that things are reversed, it's democ rats sucking wall street's dick and repukes pining for the good old days when they were flush with wall street cash.
Chrysler's brake package was standard. Ford made airbags standard a decade before gov mandates. The VW 1600 made fuel injection standard well over 50 years ago, so you didn't have to pull the choke knob. The 1600 was hardly a wealthy man's car.
