Putting aside my feelings about the ban on any type of weapon, I find it extremely callous for John McCain to have told a Mother whose son was murdered, that she needed some 'straight talk'. He never offered her one word of sympathy for her loss, and he did not chastise the crowd for cheering. I am so disappointed in the man that John McCain, who I once respected, has become. You can watch the video of that exchange here. I agree with you about McCain. He was so center right that Rush Limbaugh, during the primaries in 2008, said that if McCain won, he'd vote for Hilary Clinton. McCain was an immigration reformer with Ted Kennedy in 2007. Then against in 2008 ("build the damn fence") then is for again. He was for ending DADT as long as the Joint Chiefs was for it in 2007, then changed in 2009. He ran a dignified election against Obama, but has been a strident chuckle head ever since. He's been an idiot to Hagel even though he would have had him as a vice presidential candidate in the past. McCain got but hurt when Hagel supported Obama for president. He was a cap n trader in 2007, but changed in 2008. He went strong right in 2010 to run for senate in 2010. He even denied he was ever a "Maverick". Now he's steering back to center to win the Hispanic vote. His own past words came back to haunt him in his recent town hall. You can't run a constant flip flop agenda and not expect everyone to forget history.
