to be quite honest we all-you included-speak a mixture of latin, greek, old german, and french. You left out hebrew, native american, greek and indo-european (from whence they all sprang). Get, for example, is an indo-european word. The latine derived anglified french word is "acquire." Because of the french influence on the english court and the english population during the normandomination of england, we use these words - which mean the same thing - very differentlly.
