And that's fine with me, because Trump will do the same after drastically reducing our portion of NATO funding.  And they had better think twice about looking for help from the US the next time Russia frightens them, and they'll now have the freedom to keep their own oil tankers safe as they go through the Strait, since they refuse to help secure them.

I do not disagree with those who believe the age of NATO is coming to a close. I simply disagree with the reasons. 

The US got far more out of NATO than any NATO nation got the the US. We got hegemony over the production of the entire western hemisphere's military arsenals.

The loss of the Coupkraine gambit is what killed NATO. If the gambit had worked, if Russia had collapsed, the interests of the US and the other NATO nations would still be aligned, and those nations would be feasting on Russia's corpse. But the gambit failed, causing the intersts of the empire and the interests of its european vassals to diverge radically. The european nations have been rendered a captive client of our oil - which would not have bothered them, were they feasting instead of experiencing the famine which follows the loss of a major war.
