I still believe she should be held accountable for allowing her 6 year old to get hold of a gun and bring it to school.
Maybe the mother didn't even know the gun was in their house. It's possible that and older sibling or somebody else living in the home had it, and the mother had no clue. Maybe the kid got it from a friend's house even.
I agree that whoever gave this kid access to the firearm should face some charges, but without knowing all the facts, it's irrational to instantly blame the mom.

I have not read up on this case and have no idea if they already know how he got the gun or not.

According to the mother's lawyer, the gun which was legally purchased, was secured on a high closet shelf and had a lock on it.
