Capitalism, by virtue of the disassociated and competitive humans at its helm, is by nature an entity that eventually needs to corrupt and manipulate, in order to survive the unfettered demands it creates for itself. What you refer to is a corruption of Capitalism.
It's only the firm hand of a strong social order and their representatives that prevent it from corrupting the economy it operates in and destroying the society it depends on.
