A lot of things can help a person.. religion is just one of many. It is no better or valuable than the others. I will not divulge the details but had a not so great summer with an older brother. My solace was not found in religion but rather rock music and later on going to work.

I never made my point about religion. That was not so unclear.
You folks morphed what I said. True belief in God and religion are separate things.
Like being a spiritual person. That's a personal aspect of an individual.
I, too, have had what appears to be a similar event that I choose not to discuss.
A peace or some solace can be found where each person's journey takes them.
It appears you, like me, don't need a building full of fellow worshippers to find that calm.
Maybe a little acknowledgement that the person meant a lot to you would suffice.
Beyond that, I didn't want much from the world that I couldn't get on my own.
