there has to be an answer that doesn’t include banning plastics

             THey can't fathom a solution to the "Great Pacific Garbage Patch" issue... From what I've read, it's scattered over 650,000 square miles.... It's been floating out there growing for 50 years, and over the years just from brushing up against other plastics in the patch, almost 90% of the pieces are the size of a thumbnail --- aka MIcroplastics.. The same article claimed between 75% - 85% of it is made up of discarded / lost fishing equipment.

              The issue we're having here in Florida; we've had some fairly major concerns regarding Ghost Tackle ---- meaning abandoned or lost fishing nets, long lines, fish traps, commercial fishing gear that continue drifting and killing all sorts of Marine Life..  A brother of mine is a Charter Dive & Fishing Capt. in the Keys... He runs across turtles & birds all the time tangled up in old lines and netting.
