The F-4s with the anahedral tails were sinister looking birds. I ran into a guy at an aerodynamics forum who was part of the design team [for just the tail group] who designed that feature. It was not just to look cool but to reduce drag.
What I never understood about Navy Ships was why the drinking water tasted like JP-4
The F4 was proof that you could send a concrete block into combat with enough thrust.
I am old school, but the F4 is the most sinister-looking fighter we have ever had.
As far as the water tasting like JP4, hell if I know, I think I smelled like JP4 till about Reagans' second term.
