You're making a mountain out of a molehill. The riot at the capital was a few (relatively speaking) morons who were invited in and broke some stuff. And they hurt a few cops. And they are in jail. Last summer there were thousands more rioters in American cities (it's still happening in Portland), and a lot more cops were hurt, and some killed. Many innocent people lost their businesses. You're right. There is no equivalence.
