Nowadays this is abbreviated to DGR for Dei Gratia Regina, because the monarch is a queen.
We also insist on mentioning God by stamping In God We Trust on our money, and for some weird reason, insist on mentioning that God Is Up There in the Pledge of Allegiance, which we even more weirdly insist on reciting at athletic events and even stock car races with the words Under God.
As if we could assure that God is about bu mentioning him.
God either does not like to visit Earth, or only does so when he chooses to be invisible, mute, intangible, odorless and without taste. He values imperceptability, which some claim is necessary so that we can have free will.
I haven't read through this entire thread but I did read this post which is articulate and possibly true to a certain extent. But I respect all who don't have any faith or who follow a faith different than mine. I'm not arrogant enough to proclaim that I am right and whoever doesn't believe as I do will burn in hell for all eternity. All I know is that as a Catholic I obey the sacraments and I let the rest take care of itself. Amen.
