You saw the Ollie North show trial investigations - you saw that a mere lt. colonel was "somehow" running ops from the pentagon as a one man army answering to APPARENTLY no one. As a man, you now that's not how it works. He was answering to poppi bush, who put the deal together through manuel noriega, in order to bypass conventional channels because the congress had legislated that we were no longer to interfere in Nicaragua's affairs. To arm and train the Contras, they needed noriega. To get noriega, they let him middleman a deal with the medellin cartel.
I'm not saying CIA wasn't already in the dope business - they were running heroin at LEAST as early as the 60s. But that's when they got into cocaine.
