White House Suddenly Realizes TikTok Is a National Security Threat

Back in June 2021, Joe Biden revoked a Donald Trump-era executive order that aimed at banning the popular Chinese apps TikTok and WeChat, citing national security concerns. In its place, the Biden admin pushed for a “broader review” of foreign applications.
And apparently, that review must’ve concluded that Trump was right the entire time, as Biden himself is now looking to ban TikTok - at least for his government.
The White House has given all federal agencies 30 days to wipe TikTok from all government devices, and the House Foreign Affairs Committee voted yesterday to advance a bill that would give Biden the authority to ban TikTok.
Press Secretary KJP told reporters that the administration views the app as a national security threat, stating “Well, we have said that we have concerns about the app. And that’s why we have called on Congress to act and include … how China is trying to collect the privacy of Americans in a way … it can present national security risks.”
