A couple of weeks ago he threatened to send an email to my son and his family telling them what a racist I am. I told someone I was thinking of reporting him and he thought I meant report him to the forum so he did it himself. What he doesn't realize is that it was the police I was thinking of reporting him to.

Th element you are not addressing is to make the threat realistic you would have had to troll the internet for his information. It would be great for him to file charges against YOU and then as a matter of public record YOUR identity could be posted. I hate hacker, data miners, and trolls. You present yourself as that kind of coward.
How's that illegal unless I went through illegal means to gain it? There are plenty of legal ways to gain that information. Facebook and Google do it every single day to hundreds of millions upon hundreds of millions of people.
