.ORG owns no software or intellectual property. The value is in the search ranking. The domain name is excellent but misleading because most new visitors will be liberals who are unlikely become long term participants.

For that matter, why do you want it? It certainly is not worth $3000. There are plenty of sites that value websites.

Have you reached out to Invision to see if there ARE outstanding fees? How much it would cost to migrate the databases off their site without their help? With their help? I'd bet they have those number or can get them for you.
For $3k you can by a different liberal forum domain at https://www.namecheap.com/ and start from scratch with your own infrastructure. .US or .IO or whatever. CP has called dibbs on .GAY. Use the dollars you save on the purchase to use Googles Ad Sense to advertise your site for folks who are searching for political forums. Have a giveaway of $100 worth of Amazon or Starbucks gift cards for new posters for the first three months. Whatever.
Use some of the $3k you're not throwing away to kfools to hire a lawyer and get some advice on contests as well as set up a LLC to run the site under.
Or, pay kfools a lot of money and wind up with an albatross.
