have you looked in the windows of a McDonald’s?
most workers around here are people trying to feed a family
$15 per hour is $600 a week before taxes
most can’t get by on that
let alone save for kid’s college, plan a family vacation
I made $1.75 per hour when I started a real job
$3.50 was good money then
not sure what your point was, going down memory lane
White Castle is paying $18 here
many companies are paying more to start
funny how companies can afford to do the right thing when competition calls for it
but not until
yet their record profits seem to be intact
and before you say “ the price of a big Mac will skyrocket “
competition will take care of that too
I am not attacking fast food work. Spent years in that industry and it was some of the hardest times I ever spent getting a pay check. Still have friends from that experience and feel they are almost war buddies. The 3.75 an hour i earned seemed low but fair. I had no skills, it wasn't a job I expected to pay for more than gas, videogames, and an occasional date. To expect more from a first job seems unfair to the employer.
If i am paying someone emergency medical technician wages to flip a burger or unload a truck, they better have commiserate experience to justify that wage.
