Muslims believe the covenant between God and Abraham went through the line of Ishmael. That it was Ishmael, not Issac who was nearly sacrificed. They believe Muslims are now and always have been the beneficiaries of this covenant. Jews and the recorded line of king David dispute this. The lineage of Jesus Christ disputes this.
