Never had any desire to visit the middle east. Architecture is fascinating and I love the food but the people seem to take themselves FAR too seriously. I find it telling that there is a busy port of entry between Israel and the Palestinian territories while there is a locked gate guarded 24/7 by machine gun nests between Palestinians and Egypt and Jordan.
