I have noticed that joos seemed to be very wrapped up in their Jewishness.

And why have they always been picked on thru out history? Wish someone would explain. really explain it.
Pretty simple. Jews are God's chosen people or have always believed themselves to be. That automatically makes others indignant. Who are they to claim that there is but one God and that He has a covenant with the jews? That claim is central to their identity. They were always thorns in the sides of nations that occupied them. When they had their own nation they would have bloody seasonal wars with neighbors. When Christ was sacrificed they got labeled Christ killers and were occasionally murdered for this blood lible. Middle ages saw jews not restricted to usury laws. They could lend money at interest while Christians were forbidden. Many Jewish families became rich and influential as a result. This bred more contempt. Rumors of secret societies of rich jews pulling the strings were created. Hitler believed such a cabal caused Germany to lose wwi and blamed the suffering resulting on jews. Western perception of jews are largely remnants of the usury days, that jews are sneaky and willing to screw people over for money.

Islam has never been a fan of jews, they tried to kill the prophet. After his death the Koran made it clear to Muslims that they had been cheated by the Jews out of Ishmaels birth right. That they were the true people of God's covenant. They see jews as the ultimate usurpers. They cannot tolerate a Jewish state in the middle east, which they believe to be holy ground submitted to Islam.
