5,000-Year-Old Tomb Discovered In Italy, Containing Human Remains Still In Tacked Along With A Collection Of Ancient Weapons
.
All of the artifacts and human remains at the San Giorgio Bigarello site have been recovered. Currently, Sestito and his team are collaborating with researchers from the University of Bologna to perform DNA analysis on the skeletons. They hope to learn more about the identities of the people who were buried in the cemetery.
.
There has also been talk of erecting a museum to preserve this piece of history and showcase the finds. A museum will make the artifacts easily accessible to visitors and enrich their understanding of the Copper Age, including the cultural practices of the societies that came long before us. Ancient human remains are nothing new at San Giorgio Bigarello. The site is known to be archaeologically significant, so it isn’t the first time such a discovery was made.

In 2007, a team of researchers found a pair of skeletons dating back to 6,000 years ago. They were locked in an embrace, earning them the title of “the Lovers of Valdaro.”
