Here's an idea.


Come up with a credible source detailing a separate development of the "semi auto" AR-15.

I have traced this back to the original 2 dozen "Sporters".....they were the same weapon sold to the military - except they were modified to comply with ATF regs. These were distributed to members of the board at Colt to celebrate the 2nd order from the military.

The first order came from the Air Force, ca. 1962....for semi auto AR-15s.

 

You are incorrect.  THe semi automatic Sporter was not available until 1964.

Here is what the AF ordered:

In May 1962, following tests led by Gen. Curtis LeMay, the U.S. Air Force officially ordered a batch of select-fire ArmaLite AR-15s. This initial procurement paved the way for the rifle's widespread adoption and eventual redesignation as the M16. [1, 2, 3, 4]

You understand what Select-Fire is, correct?
