The one in the OP was involved Mexico cartels not he CG vessel was on the Rio Grande:

Hundreds of American troops are heading to the Rio Grande Valley after a shooting incident against the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) this past weekend, believed to be cartel-connected, occurred in the vicinity of Garceno, a Texas town close to the U.S.-Mexico border.

 No USCG personnel were injured nor was any of their equipment damaged when the gunfire was sent their way and then returned on Saturday, September 26, a USCG spokesperson told The Texan on Friday
