The question you refuse to answer is what is your definition of a long rifle.  And don't say an18/19th century rifle.  I am sure the 16 year old did not charge the school with one of those. It was a moss berg maverick 88.  The purpose of that shotgun was hunting birds, water fowl, rabbit, etc.
