Lol, I have $10 that says the "queer eyes for the straight guy" helped him decorate that Bug In Bunker! He can be quite tolerant except when he isn't. I don't believe he's entirely put off by a pole smoker per se, but he does not seek the pole smoker.
So in his case I think using the word 'queer' would be in the archaic use like odd or weird.
I do have his back here. We weren't always friends but you know how school boys fight.
