Three years into retirement (SS and a pension for me), the wife is making $50k a year working 20 hours a week with full time benefits working at a charter school. Pretty nice for 9 months of work. The house is paid for (put about $540k into), the retirement accounts are just under $800k, add in other assets and we are closer to $2 million than one million. When Mom passes, generational wealth will add another million or so. I literally had no idea of the value of a portion of the family farm, 160 acres with crops, royalties from oil, natural gas, wind turbines, transmission lines. Thanks Grandpa, 50 years of turning a wrench really has paid off for your family.
I know it's bad form to throw those numbers out there but I really don't give a **** any more. Sue me!
BTW, it's not the **** you money as you seek as we really don't feel the rich. Secure maybe.
Soak up as much information as you can from your rich friends, it may help you with decisions in the future.
