Most of the Far Right are Libertarians until the day they need a government program.
1. Before Obamacare, a local minister would give these sermons about how people who didn't have insurance should be willing to die before they accepted government programs. He had a heart attack, and the insurance company cancelled his insurance. He made 2 more years of these sermons, until he was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Trotted right into the government office to apply for the state program for uninsured people. Government paid for all his medical bills. He did shut up about being willing to die for his principles.
2. A co-worker would have rants about all these "moochers" on the government dole. The only problem was that her main source of income was Social Security survivor's benefits for her and her children because her husband died at 35 years old.
3. My niece is the local chair of the Libertarian Party. She received her degrees from grants to people who get teaching degrees. Her entire education was paid for by government grants. Both she, and her husband, have applied for unemployment in the past. She receives Social Security Disability for her son that has autism. She is on a variety of state programs that pay for childcare and special education for disabled children. She doesn't see any discrepancy between being a Libertarian and being on a multitude of taxpayer paid for government programs.
