Rest assured that the other guy just dismissed it
I would love to see his beliefs vigorously and rigorously tested someday.
I think it's  those buckets full of cereal grain and heirloom vegetable  seed ...plus  the ability "to make" 100s of gallons of pure drinking water at the drop of a hat that I value the most.... Image
I have a natural spring near my home - you do, too. Make it your business to find that spring, as spring water is best, emergency or no.

I left out that ALMOST everything on that list is organic. I highly recommend that people familiarize themselves with the Dirty Dozen and the Clean Fifteen. I would never pay extra for organic onions or cabbage or bananas; and I would never stint at paying double for organic tomatoes or apples or pears. That list is peace of mind and peace of pocket for me.

I also left out that the surprisingly low price of a home coffee roaster is more than offset by a single purchase of a 65 pound bag of green coffee beans (3 bucks a pound!), which are good for years and which - once you gain facility in roasting your own - will provide you with better coffee than your favorite brand. The reason it's an odd weight is that the world of coffee operates on kilos.

A cheap home dehydrator is another great investment. You know those lipton onion soup spice mixes? Dehydrate your own onions, which you can buy in bulk at restaurant supply stores, and it's a better seasoning, healthier and cheaper. When I put rice in the rice cooker, it's always with home made chicken stock and either saffron or my home made lipton onion soup spice.
