A famous example of this was how mussolini made the trains run on time. Faced with an intractable bureaucracy that had spent years creating layers of excuses such that no one person could ever be held to account, the trains were run in a very Latin slipshod manner. Anyway, Mussolini had a couple of late-running conductors met at prominent stations during the busiest hours of the day and summarily executed.
