What we think are the laws of physics you mean... Einstein was a genius but who knows, maybe another genius will come along and prove him wrong... it's called the theory of general relativity, not the fact...
Also, allow me to indulge in a reverse-scenario thought experiment for a moment:
  • When we sent men to explore the moon, we didn't give one thought to being covert or stealthy about it.  When we sent robotic rovers to Mars, again, we didn't give one thought to hiding our presence there.  We've sent satellites to several moons in our solar system that could potentially have live on them, and we've done nothing to conceal this from any potential inhabitants.
  • Furthermore, when we sent Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 flying out of our solar system, we placed things on it to make sure that an alien civilization would know that there is sentient life on Earth - nothing stealthy about that at all.
  • If we had the physical ability to go visit Proxima B, do you think we would take measures to NOT engage with any intelligent alien civilization we find on that planet?  Heck no!  We'd be louder than cage full of chimps at feeding time.  The fact that some individuals on the planet might have to change their beliefs due to our arrival wouldn't concern us in the least.  We'd go in there with Chinese made trinkets for the leaders and sugary-sweet platitudes for the inhabitants.
  • It just doesn't make sense that an Alien civilization would be so concerned about how our Churches and Stock Markets would be affected by their arrival to just say "Hi".
The reverse, in my opinion, would also be true.  There is no need, from an Alien Civilization's perspective, to hide from us and help our government engage in cover-ups.  This is both irrational and absurd.
That's the same thing, aliens don't have to think like we do... and I also think putting those things on Voyager was a big mistake, just like sending out messages announcing to the whole galaxy where we are....

But as for it not making sense for aliens to hide their presence.. I like science fiction movies, Star Trek has the prime directive, when they meet primitive aliens they are not allowed to **** up their society by announcing their presence so they go undercover.. aliens could have something like that..

Or maybe they don't want to be seen for other reasons...
