I have never been registered in the Democratic party, and actually right now I am a registered Republican.
I registered as a Republican to vote in the primaries last year, and have not yet changed back to 'no affiliation' which is what I was before that and have always been.

Like many people here, The American was referring to the Democratic Party as 'my party' but as I have said several times I was only registered as a Democrat for a very short period of time during the 2008 primary season to allow me to vote in that election.

So I do not consider myself as ever having been a registered Democrat, and that's why I said it that way.
I was registered as a Democrat for convenience only and very temporarily.

I just dug up my old voter registration card from NY from when I changed my affiliation from unaffiliated to Democrat in order to vote in the 2008 Primary Election.
Unfortunately my scanner doesn't work, so the best I could do was take a picture of it with my tablet.
