Politicians have sent up trial balloons for decades. That uses weather for politics. This is nothing new - let's keep it moving, folks.

This is not the same thing as using weather for politics.

I highly doubt that any administration has ever warned NOAA not to contradict the president, and to keep quiet if a president altered one of their official maps with a Sharpie.
