Design in that sense is about the function. That doesn't change...Something designed for combat remains something designed for combat, even when modified and painted pink.

Todays semi automatics are not designed combat.  They look like those that are, but they are designed for civilian use.  None of those weapons are on the list of combat used by the US Military.

They are nothing more than a semiauto that looks like military.
