I know I can cruise  my hood, defy police dispatcher instructions, confront kids - and shoot them....asserting that I was "standing my ground"..

If you confront them you are the aggressor.  That is not stand your ground unless you make an attempt to withdraw from the confrontation you created.  And you can only shoot if they are attacking you.

Why don't you go dig out that shotgun you claim to have somewhere in your home and give it a try.
