It has more to do with the fact they were OUTED on the GASLIGHTING they've done for BYE-DONE for decades and if they wanted to maintain ANY level of appearing to be credible, they had to go with the narrative now. People SAW what BYE-DONE was in that debate and more are paying attention to him and his dementia and lack of mental capacity as well as his failing physical health.
