I certainly don't deny human nature. But we still have two countries - let's call them "the east" who are pushing cooperation, and about 30 countries (Let's call the klingons) who are looting like they're at the end of empire, and pushing wars like they despise humanity and want to reduce it.

As a member of the humanity they clearly want to reduce, I'm not in their cheering section.

Don't get me wrong.
I see the direction of our country at large as a **** up mess.
Like spoiled children, or dolts handed free stuff, we seem to just expect it to last forever.
Our culture, such as it is, was stuck in a depression then waltzed into huge prosperity within a single lifetime.
Apparently the lesson learned is: keep the military and big business alive and well... no matter what.

Next thing ya know, neither cannot be trusted for even the most basic sense of honor (for lack of a better word).
Who, but the naive, doesn't think there are ulterior motives behind just about anything these days?
Any esprit de corps we may have once had has eroded to a thin veneer.

If there was a plan to weaken the west, it has worked nicely.
